Separatist leader Masarat Alam arrested in Srinagar
SRINAGAR: Separatist leader Masarat Alam was arrested on Friday by the Jammu and Kashmir police from his house in Srinagar.

Talking to Times Now about Masarat Alam's arrest, Jitendra Singh, MoS PMO, said: "There's no compromise on any account, we are very clear on how such people have to be treated."

"The Centre is keeping a close watch on the situation," Jitendra Singh said.

"This is not a place where Pakistani flags or pro-Pakistan slogans are going to be accepted," BJP leader Nalin Kohli said on Masarat Alam's arrest.

On Thursday, Alam and Syed Ali Shah Geelani were placed under house arrest, a day ahead of their scheduled rally at Tral town in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.

J&K CM Mufti Mohammed Sayeed on Thursday directed the police to refuse permission for a rally which was scheduled to be taken from Srinagar to Tral on Friday where a youth was killed allegedly by Army while in their custody.
