allocating Rs. 15 lakh for track events and Rs. 30 lakh for games, he
said.
Dr. Sundararaj said the government had issued
orders for building a sports hostel at Seethakathi Sethupathy Stadium
here at an estimated cost of Rs. 60 lakh to accommodate hockey,
volleyball and cricket players and athletes.
The
Minister congratulated Collector K. Nanthakumar for helping the SDAT to
organise the meet within a short notice. District Sports and Youth
Welfare Officer S. Joseph Path Briton said about 1,000 men and women
from all the districts of the State turned up for the three-day event.
The meet would conclude on Sunday with track events, he added.
